About Leo Novikov

Leo Novikov received a classical music education in Moscow, Russia and played in one of the best symphony orchestras in the world - the Moscow Philharmonic. As a member of this outstanding company Leo performed at some of the most famous venues across the world, including the Carnegie-Hall and Lincoln Centre (USA), Barbican Centre (UK), the Santory Hall (Japan).

Among his many solo performances were a solo concert in Tbilisi (Georgia), a performance in the world’s first television broadcast from Moscow to 14 countries of the world, as well as solo concerts in Cannes (France), Jurmala (Latvia) and Moscow (Russia).

Leo performed as an actor and a violinist in several famous Russian theatres: as the Fiddler in the musical “The Fiddler on the Roof” (Moscow State Operetta Theatre), and as the Soul of Mefisto in the “Story of Doctor Faustus” by Goethe (State Academic Youth Theatre). Leo played the roles of a violinist in numerous Russian and Australian films.

In 1993 Leo immigrated to Australia with his wife and children, and soon achieved acclaim as a classical violinist and a teacher.

From 1994 to 2005 he has been a Senior Lecturer at the Australian Institute of Music. Since 2005 Leo teaches at the International Grammar School (Sydney).

Leo performed as a soloist at a variety of prestigious venues, such as the Parliament House of NSW, the Concert Hall of the Sydney Opera House, British Consulate, Channel Nine Television (the program “Ernie and Dennis”), Sydney Town Hall, Sydney Recital Hall and also in Melbourne (Glen Eira Arts Complex).

Leo has recorded 2 compact discs: “Golden Dreams” (2000) and “Leo’s Violin Magic” (2004).

In November 2003 he became a prize winner at the First International Competition “Golden Hanukiah” (Germany).
